Quality of life

Boandik is passionate about enabling people to live as they choose which then will have a direct impact on their quality of life.We have been using quality of life measures for all clients for some time now with the focus on working with clients to improve their quality of life as a result of the care and services they choose.

One of the tools we use is the personal wellbeing index (PWI) which measures subjective wellbeing (SWB) and is used widely in Australia. The personal wellbeing index (PWI) includes a rating for standard of living, health, what a person is achieving in life, relationships, safety, connection to community and future security.

We have participated in a Deakin University research study with other aged care organisations involved in the SA Innovation Hub to measure the subjective wellbeing (SWB) of residential clients. The table below is a snapshot of the results with Boandik residents rating their subjective wellbeing (SWB) at 86.77, higher than the normal range and the other 5 aged care providers involved in the study.

This result confirms that Boandikā€™s focus on treating every person as an individual and working with them to meet their needs is ensuring quality of life for clients.
